What Would the Future You Tell You?
No one knows yourself better than you. If you ever said to yourself “I wish I would have known that then” this article might just be perfect for you. My goal for this post is to get you thinking about how you can make your future brighter!
“So what would the future you tell you anyway?” This question is one that I genuinely love. It makes you think outside the box while stepping in shoes with a little more wisdom. That is why I decided to share it with you! In this article, we are going to apply this question to the four pillars of life. (Health, wealth, relationships and happiness).
Every day we are faced with decisions. The human brain then makes decisions on auto pilot most of the time without our control. These decisions can be good or bad. But what would the future you say to yourself about the choices you make every day? As you read this post it’s a great time to take some time, reflect and evaluate your life. I want you to think about the decisions you’re making on autopilot and how they might be affecting your future.
Let’s start with wealth. Where do you spend the extra money you earn? Going out to eat, going out for drinks, beer, energy drinks? The list can go on and on. But I think you’re getting the point, and you know where I am going with this. What would the future you say to yourself say to you about your spending habits? I can tell you the future version of myself is telling me to save more and invest more. Maybe even split in middle and invest half and save half to minimize risk. My question for you is “what is the future you saying you about your finances?” How much have you spend on disposable items in the last year and how much were you able to save?
Moving on, let’s talk about health. Are you exercising as much as you should? Are you eating healthy? What would the future you say about your current eating habits? Shoutout to the people who are eating healthy and exercising as much as you should. P.S Don’t forget about drinking water. I believe your health is in correlation with how much you love yourself and how happy you are. What I can tell you is that we are guaranteed one life. With that being said let’s live a long happy life. Would the future you agree?
Let’s talk about relationships. In this section, we can talk about a lot from your relationships with friends and family and all the way to sex, communication, love, etc. But for now, let’s keep it simple. When growing up did your parents ever not want you to hang out with someone because they might be a negative influence? If so their was a concern about what could happen in the future if the relationship continues. What would the future say to you about your current relations? Are you staying with someone even though you know it’s not right? Most importantly, are you suffering or hurting because of someone else? If so this needs to be fixed right away. I genuinely think no one deserves that. But for now, ask the future you. “How will my current relationships affect my future?” It’s important to surround yourself with people that will bring you up and motivate you.
Happiness, this one I am incredibly passionate about. Health, wealth and relationships are all players when it comes to your happiness. Happiness is a pillar of life where I think it’s completely fine to be selfish. But I want you to take time to focus on yourself. Are you rewarding yourself when you do good? I want you to look back on your life when you said: “I should have just enjoyed it while it lasted.” What can you do to make the most out of every moment to never have to ask yourself this question again? What insight would the future you say to yourself about your happiness? You know yourself better than anyone else. Give your self a break, soak up the sun, breath, relax and focus on your pleasure.
Final thoughts, I want you to take some time and frequently revisit this question. Whenever you’re faced with challenges, feeling stressed or even if your feeling alone ask yourself what would the future you say about it? What would the future tell you about it? One of the most valuable things you can have is happiness. I genuinely hope you find it! Thank you for taking the time and reading this post. I wish I gave you some insight that will benefit you!
